  • A Shropshire farm shop is pulling out all the stops to ensure that this month's British Food Fortnight (17th September - 2nd October) is the most lucrative yet

Moor Farm Shop in Shropshire dramatically increased its retail space last year, and is hoping the new-look store will attract customers from miles around. A number of promotions, competitions, recipes and tastings have been organised and promoted in-store – ranging from themed hampers to traditional cream teas.

There will also be a draw to identify the store’s most popular products, and customers will be asked to submit ideas for new lines that they would like to be stocked.

Elaine Timmis, whose family own Moor Farm Shop, commented, “This will be the first British Food Fortnight that we celebrate in our increased retail space. Our new shop has allowed us to expand the range of British products that we are able to sell; it gives us great pride to support British farming and British products.”

“The products we select are top quality, fresh, seasonal, local and many are homemade here. British Food Fortnight is the perfect opportunity for us to shout about our love for British food. We have planned exciting activities and tastings so that our customers can join us to celebrate everything British,” she adds.

British Cheese Week 2011 happens to coincide with British Food Fortnight (24th September - 2nd October) and Moor Farm Shop will be tantalising the taste buds of cheese lovers by developing innovative recipes incorporating cheese. Head chef Mark Russell-Jones will be experimenting with dishes such as blue cheese sausages and beef burgers stuffed with Stilton throughout the week.
