Harrods Launches Gourmet Food Academy

The new Gourmet Food qualification is registered as being Level 3 OFQUAL, is recognised across the UK, and will provide expert luxury food training to the store’s sales associates.

The 10-month training will focus on customer service, product knowledge and understanding of provenance across the stock range of Harrods’ Food Hall, including wine, chocolate and charcuterie, via visits to external suppliers, live work experience, and a workbook written by the store’s buyers.

Bruce Langlands, Director of Food and Restaurants said, “The Gourmet Food Academy is becoming an established annual programme, which every member of the food retail team can apply for.

“I feel it is vitally important to equip my team with an in-depth, rather than superficial, knowledge about the products that they sell. This has the direct result of products being sold with real passion, knowledge and enthusiasm, and translates into an outstanding experience for our customers within the Harrods Food Halls.”
