Get your free copyThe family-run fudge producer created its first batch of fudge in 1964, and customers and suppliers joined workers to celebrate the anniversary.
Buttermilk creates a range of confectionery including 70 flavours of fudge, toffee, truffles, brittle and turkish delight.
The event occurred soon after the company acquired a new factory, which will increase output from six to ten tonnes per week.
Tracy Goad, director said, “The business has grown so much over 50 years, but the core of what we do has always remained and that’s making a quality fudge in open copper pans. We’ll never move away from that but we have professionalised the business without losing the essence of being artisanal and small.
“Our party at the Padstow shop was for our customers and suppliers to say thank you for all their support because they’re integral to our business. We’ll be holding another party for all our staff as they really are the backbone of Buttermilk.”
