Nick Rose of Farrington’s said, “We’re running this campaign because we want to start working with some new suppliers. We’ve been struggling of late to get new blood through the door, so put together a local campaign a few weeks ago – we had a few responses but overall quite a low success rate, so we’re now spreading the word nationally.
“We’re looking for producers of high quality foods which are looking to break through and perhaps struggling to gain a foothold. One of the problems we’ve come across of late is that there are a lot of producers on our doorstep, but within months they seem to have fast-tracked into the multiples.
“One of the attractions of people coming to the farm shop is that there are products here which aren’t available at a local multiple. We tried sourcing from a twenty-mile radius at first but are now looking nationally. As much as we try to support local producers as much as possible, the most important thing is that we source a quality product that our customers want to discover for the first time and ultimately buy.”
