Get your free copyWith over 200 entries into this year’s awards, the Virtual Cheese Awards, now in its third year, is yet again showcasing new and seasoned British cheesemakers.
The live final on Friday 13th May will see entries across a range of classes, from Best Speciality Cheese to Best Territorial Cheese, with the addition of the new Excellence Awards which welcomes nominees for categories from Young Cheesemaker Award to the Sustainability Trophy, amongst other categories.
This year’s expert judges range from industry professionals to artisan specialists. The list includes cheese experts from Booths, Paxton & Whitfield, M&S, Harvey & Brockless and many more big names in cheese.
Sarah de Wit, co-founder of Virtual Cheese Awards, said, “We are so excited for the final of this year’s Virtual Cheese Awards. We are still a very new awards and only in our third year, we are so happy to have received over 200 entries of your amazing British cheeses.
“It is going to be a great day full of celebrating the diversity and quality of the British cheese industry and we are thrilled to be welcoming such a wonderful array of experts who are coming on board to judge too!”
Hosted by broadcaster and journalist, Nigel Barden, a lover and specialist in all things British ingredients and artisan producers, the day is going to be packed with judging, panel discussions, interviews and tasting with exciting special guests yet to be announced.
Nigel expressed his excitement for the big event: “Cheese is something that in this country that we do well, really well in fact. It is an industry full of innovators and inspiring people who are truly passionate about making great cheese and they deserve all the praise we can give them!”
Unlike last year, the Virtual Cheese Awards 2022 can be viewed by anyone and everyone, and the free live stream on the day of the event will be available on the Virtual Cheese Award’s website, Youtube channel and Facebook page from 10:30am to 5pm.
