Squire’s Garden Centre unveils its new food hall in Wokingham

Squire’s Garden Centre has opened the doors to its brand new food hall, based on Heathlands Road in Wokingham. Located inside the centre in the space of a vacated clothing brand, the food hall offers a selection of fresh food and produce, much of which is sourced from local suppliers across Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire.

The centre is known for its wide range of quality plants, garden products, outdoor furniture, barbeques and gifts, but this new addition has allowed it to greatly expand its current food selection. Customers can look forward to:

Fresh fruit and veg, including organic tomatoes from The Tomato Stall on the Isle of Wight, and Wilson’s Wonders potatoes from Hook in Hampshire

Home baking products, with free-range eggs from Chapel Farm in Normandy, Surrey

Bread and preserves

Cakes and biscuits

Dairy foods, such as cheese and yoghurts

A freezer section, including ice cream from Grays Gelato in Polesden Lacey, Surrey, frozen fruit and COOK meals

Beers, wines and spirits, such as the award-winning sparkling wine from Greyfriars Vineyard on the Hogs Back in Surrey

The garden centre was once part of Heathlands Farm, a large growing operation that supplied fruit to retailers, giving the site a rich food heritage that the centre is now revisiting. “Working with the local community has been at the heart of our philosophy for more than 80 years,” comments Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, “and the food hall brings the very best local food and drink together under one roof, reducing food miles and keeping the best flavours right here in our community.”

The new food hall complements the popular farm shop on the garden centre site, and visitors can also enjoy free parking and wi-fi, an indoor soft play area and a Café Bar serving breakfast, light bites to eat, jacket potatoes, coffee, cake and cream teas.

Squire’s Garden Centre and the food hall are open Monday to Saturday from 9am-6pm and Sunday from 10:30am-4:30pm.
