Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano remain very popular products, accounting for 16% of the entire foreign-made cheese market. Fresh cheeses, such as Mozzarella and Ricotta are, again, amongst the most popular products appreciated by UK consumers, representing 42% of all imported cheeses.
In this scenario, DalterFood Group reconfirms its market position in the UK with around 3,500 tons of cheese sold, and a turnover of more than 45.6 million euros in 2023.
These are numbers that demonstrate the group’s position in Britain, consolidated thanks to the proximity to the market guaranteed by its subsidiary, Dalter UK.
“Dalter UK is a streamlined and highly efficient operation, which draws on the combined knowledge and expertise of the parent company who has 45 years of experience in the production, selection, portioning and packaging of the best PDO aged Italian cheeses – such as our Parmigiano Reggiano –and other Italian cheeses and delicacies. This proximity to the market allows the company not only to be more aware of the preferences of local consumers, but also to offer products that meet the specific needs of industry and retail operators, thanks to the combination of a wide product offer and fast and streamlined logistics operations”, says Andrea Guidi, general director of DalterFood Group.
Dalter UK’s specialists are capable of providing strategic advice to industry and retail operators, thanks to the analysis of specific market needs and the tailor-made approach that characterises the group. This strategic structure allows Dalter UK to offer hard and semi-hard cheeses, along with other Italian specialities, that meet the tastes and needs of British customers.
The Group distributes Parmigiano Reggiano produced in its two own dairies: the Colline di Selvapiana e Canossa Dairy and the Colline del Cigarello e Canossa Dairy, both located in the Reggio Emilia Apennines. DalterFood Group’s production processes are closely linked to the territory and its distinguishing dairy tradition, and are the result of a sustainable and controlled supply chain which has obtained the Animal Welfare certification issued by Certiquality according to the protocol of ClassyFarm, the national reference organisation for Animal Welfare.
In addition to the cheeses produced by the group, Dalter UK selects and distributes top-quality and the most iconic Italian fresh cheeses – such as Mozzarella (made from buffalo and cow’s milk), Ricotta and Burrata - serving as a perfect example of how the company successfully leverages its knowledge of the British market.
A sustainable business model in all senses of the term (environmental, social, and economic) that has enabled DalterFood Group to expand in the UK and consolidate a strong position in the British dairy market, demonstrated by the numbers achieved in 2023.
