Montagnolo Affine has been crowned Supreme Champion at this year’s Nantwich 2012 International Cheese Awards, winning the accolade ahead of more than 3,900 other competitors.
This deliciously creamy soft cheese ripens particularly slowly at low temperatures. Using the so-called cold maturation process, it gradually develops its aromatic, spicy flavour and creamy consistency.
On the inside, Montagnolo is laced with fine blue culture that gives it a distinctive, slightly sweet aroma and delicate texture. During the maturation, the soft cheese is carefully tended by hand, guaranteeing the master cheesemakers’ “1st Quality” seal.
Montagnolo Affine is a premium blue cheese made with pasteurised cows, it is gluten-free, suitable for vegetarians and the rind is edible.
Montagnolo Affine is manufactured in the Allgau region of Bavaria – Germany, that has a long and strong tradition of dairy farming that dates back over 300 years.
It was created in the early 90s and went on sale first in Germany then other European countries. It was introduced here in the UK in 2006 and has since won numerous awards.
The Dairy where Montagnolo Affine is produced is part of the Kaserei-Champignon group and is still privately owed by the Hofmeister family. Montagnolo Affine is made all year round to the highest quality standards.
As with most cheeses, we recommend that Montagnolo is taken out of refrigeration 30 minutes before being eaten, this gives a chance for the cheese to breathe and acclimatise itself.
Enjoy with rustic bread or crackers or use as a centrepiece for a cheeseboard.
