The True Taste of Wales Food & Drink Awards were set-up by the Welsh Assembly Government in 2002 to recognise quality, excellence and innovation in Welsh food and drink. Part of a long-term commitment to supporting Welsh produce in the UK, the Awards are at the core of a substantial programme of activities including consumer and trade tastings and events, PR training and promotional advice for Welsh producers, press trips and on-going media relations.
Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones comments: “We are extremely proud of the quality and uniqueness of the food and drink products coming out of Wales. We launched our True Taste of Wales Awards seven years ago in order to put a spotlight on the very best Welsh producers and provide a promotional platform for them. We are delighted to bring the best of Wales to London and maximise exposure for all things Welsh around St David’s Day.”
The True Taste of Wales’ Produce Market will be officially opened by Elin Jones, Rural Affairs Minister for The Welsh Assembly Government at 12.30pm, St Christopher’s Place, just off Oxford Street on Friday February 27th 2009. The Market will trade until 7pm.
