Thousands Flock To Farm Shop Open Day

  • The Reynolds Family, which runs Allington Farm Shop, was delighted to see more than 2,500 shoppers turn up to discover the store's new look.

“Having recently extended and refurbished the farm shop and opened a café, we wanted to thank our customers for their support and encourage people to come and see how much we have improved the shopping environment here,” says Tim Reynolds who runs the business with his wife, Naomi, and parents, Paul and June.

Phyllis Singer, one of Allington Farm Shop’s most loyal customers unveiled a plaque commemorating the occasion and was presented with a bouquet of flowers. “Mrs Singer lives in Allington and has shopped here nearly every Saturday since we first opened the shop in 1981,” comments Mr Reynolds’ father, Paul. “And even when she hasn’t been able to get here herself she phones her orders through. We are all very pleased that she has agreed to be guest of honour.”

“I feel very honoured to have been asked to open the café and extension,” adds Mrs Singer. “The shop has certainly changed a lot since it started and I am very pleased to see it thriving. I think the café was a marvellous idea and I am already becoming a regular in there too.”

Visitors to the open day also listened to a live jazz band and tasted Allington Pork from the hog roast, local clotted cream, Somerset apple juice, ice cream and Chippenham chocolates, as well as homemade brownies and freshly-squeezed orange juice from the café which is run by Mr Reynolds’ sister, Emma. She concludes, “Our chocolate brownies are becoming quite famous, so we knew they would be popular today. We have been busy baking them all week.”
