- The best deli in Somerset has been announced at the Global Cheese Awards
Queen Street Delicatessen, in Wells, beat fellow finalists The Cheese and Wine Shop in Wellington, and Sienna Gourmet Deli in Yeovil.
Over 40 delis across the county were visited by a team of undercover judges who market the stores based on passion, quality, knowledge and customer service.
Nigel Pooley, chairman of the Global Cheese Awards, said, “The Queen Street Delicatessen is a jewel in Wells’ crown. The deli offers a delicious selection of goods and the displays are a feast for the eyes, inviting visitors to sample traditional and specialist produce. Its all-important cheese display and selection is also particularly impressive.
“The sales assistants are professional and extremely knowledgeable, even with the most specialist of produce, while the shop has a warm and friendly ambience. Queen Street Delicatessen is a deserved winner,” he added.
