Preserve Maker Takes Germany By Storm

  • A handmade preserve maker has landed a lucrative contract to bring its selection of jams, chutneys and condiments to German retailers

Kitchen Garden, based in Stroud, will be shipping around 6000 jars of its products to the new client – a German fine food distributor called Lacross GmbH – at the end of March.

“Since before Christmas we had been talking to two German companies, both equally keen to stock our products,” said Barbara Moinet, joint MD of the company. “In the end we had to choose just one, because both wanted exclusivity! It was a very hard choice to make, but it seems we backed the right horse,” she continues.

As well as supplying numerous delis and farm shops across the UK, Kitchen Garden also exports to several European countries, including France, Denmark, Sweden and Portugal, and further afield to the US, Hong Kong and Singapore. “We have also just sent a few samples of jam and marmalade to China,” she adds.
