- An Italian food importer and distributor has expanded its range after changing ownership
Guidetti Fine Foods, based in Peckham, is adding well known artisan Italian brands and a wine selection to its range of product lines in order to increase sales and awareness.
In March, long time customer Bruno Zoccola, co-owner of Italian food shop and restaurant Valentina Fine Foods, and his son, Antonio, took over the business.
Mr Zoccola said, “The old owner was 73 and wanted to retire. We sat down and worked out a deal where he would stay on as a consultant and my son Antonio would manage the business. We’ve added a range of wines to the product selection which we want to expand upon, as well as lines from famous Italian producers like Strega liqueur, of which we are the sole importers, and Venchi chocolates.
“Since taking over in March we’ve had good business. The products we sell are unusual – if we sell pasta it won’t be simple, it will be unique and different. We try to go above average and you wouldn’t find any of our products in the supermarkets – we’re definitely geared towards delis and high end restaurants.”
