As well as hosting many fine food producers, the event saw talks, demonstrations and seminars by industry experts in the Fine Food Forum and Small Business Forum, and professionals offered one-to-one advice in the Business Mentoring Centre.
The event also saw the announcement of this year’s Great Taste Awards winners, including Supreme Champions Snowflake Luxury Gelato for their Raspberry Sorbetto.
Soraya Gadelrab, event director said, “It is fantastic to see how exciting the UK speciality food industry is in 2014 and this is very much reflected in the growth of the Fair. This is the largest event we’ve hosted in our 15-year history showcasing around 750 fine food suppliers to over 12,410 (pending ABC audit) chefs and retailers.
“The fine food industry here in the UK is vibrant and consumers are clearly demanding more choice in their food selection. Speciality & Fine Food Fair is where new concepts and producers fuse with buyers – forming the starting point of ideas that will flow out into the high street and to become the next big thing.”
Adrian Boswell, cheese and deli buyer at Selfridges said, “An extremely organised and well laid out Fair. Exhibitors seem really upbeat and there is some excellent product innovation.”
Pete Newton, buyer at Booths said, “It has been an excellent Fair this year. There has been a diverse mix of suppliers – with many first time exhibitors and new brands keeping it fresh and exciting. I have come away with more leads in the morning alone, than the whole day that I was here last year! It has been hugely successful and the new product development mix has been really strong.”
Next year’s event will be held at The National Hall, Olympia from 6th-8th September 2015.
