The Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards crowns its regional winners

Yesterday an audience of specialist retailers, suppliers, press and judges came together in person at Farm Shop & Deli Show in Birmingham to celebrate the very best of the independent retail sector as the award’s winners were announced.

For over nine years the prestigious Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards have become renowned for supporting and celebrating local specialist retailers across 12 categories and nine regions in the UK.

This year there was no overall Retailer of the Year – instead, nine regional winners were crowned after being judged for their exceptional work in their region rather than by category. 

The judges focused on specialist retailers who are doing their part to create a better world through sustainable initiatives, whilst supporting their customers, communities and suppliers. 

Hailing from Scotland to the South West, the regional entries – which totalled over 100 – were particularly impressive this year with delicatessen, farm shops and butchers amongst the winners. 

Nigel Barden, chair of judges for the awards, said, “We had some fabulous entries, many reflecting how resourceful retailers have been in the food and drink sector, as they faced another very different and challenging year. 

“Our judges had a difficult task drawing up the regional shortlists and winners for this year’s Farm Shop & Deli Awards, as there were some remarkable entries reflecting how resourceful many in the food and drink sector are, particularly with the emphasis being focused on recycling, waste and sustainability. 

“It is heartening to see how much these talented, resourceful and diligent entrants care about their businesses and it was a privilege to read about them and celebrate them at the winners announcement.”

South West - Pipers Farm, Cullompton
