- Seven famous Italian chefs will be performing on the Theatre of Sustainability stage at IFE 2023, featuring Italian PDO, PGI and organic products
The Italian Trade Agency will be promoting the sustainability of Italian food and wine products and increasing the visibility of sustainability in Italian agribusiness in the UK, with its campaign called ‘La Verde Vita’.
Currently, Italy is the second biggest exporter of organic products in the world. Made in Italy organic products registered an export value of 2.9 billion and an increase of 156% over a decade-long period.
Why Italy La Verde Vita?
Italian cuisine has always taken pride in its homegrown products and the importance they have in traditional cooking. The campaign aims to educate and inform consumers about the key messages of sustainability across Italian food and wine products.
In order to do this, a cooking show area will be set up at IFE London ExCeL, and seven famous and rising star chefs will be performing on the Theatre of Sustainability stage during 20th-22nd March.
Italian organic, PDO and PGI products will be highlighted, including Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO, Olio di Roma PGI, Aceto Balsamico di Modena PGI, Asiago PDO, Grana Padano PDO, Gongonzola PDO, Finocchiona PGI, Mortadella Bologna PGI, Bresaola della Valtellina PGI, Prosciutto di Modena PDO, Speck Alto Adige PGI and Pomodoro di Pachino PGI.
Italy has 842 GI classifications, and is the first in Europe for registered and protected food farming and viticulture products with 581 PDO, 257 PGI, and 4 STG.
Choose your slot to see expert Italian chefs including Gennaro Contaldo, Francesco Mazzei, Enzo Oliveri, Carmelo Carnevale, Rino Bono, Claudio Covino, Antonio Sanna e Luca Sanna. Additionally, a recipe book featuring dishes from all seven chefs will be released and distributed at IFE.
