A new expo for plant-based food is coming to London in 2021

In recent years, the plant-based food sector has grown exponentially. The vegan trend has proved it’s here to stay, and sales of meat-free foods have soared, growing 40% over the past five years. The coronavirus pandemic has only bolstered the fast-growing industry, with a survey by The Vegan Society finding that one in five Brits cut down their meat consumption during the lockdown.

Now, Europe is getting its first dedicated plant-based event. Following its success in the US, Plant Based World Expo will launch its European show at London’s Business Design Centre on the 8th and 9th of April 2021. The event will offer industry professionals the opportunity to hear from the world’s leading plant-based experts, including industry heavyweights Quorn, Beyond Meat and Meatless Farm.

“The plant-based sector is growing at such a rapid pace and we are proud to represent the industry with Europe’s only dedicated B2B event,” says Jonathan Morley, managing director of the show organiser JD Events. “With so much happening, from leading exhibitors to a number of show features, including exclusive tastings, the event will showcase the very best of plant-based.”

Retailers, distributors, food service providers and entrepreneurs will have the chance to participate in seminars and learn from innovative brands that aren’t yet available in the UK, such as US-based Just, which will demonstrate its egg alternative made from mung bean, and OmniPork, which offers a plant-based pork alternative made from shiitake mushrooms, peas, soy and rice. Good Catch, a leader in the alternative seafood sector, will present its world-leading fish-free tuna.

Following guidance from Public Health England, the centre will implement a comprehensive regime of safety measures, including limiting the number of people in its conference halls and utilising an enhanced cleaning process. One-way systems and face masks will also be used in high-traffic areas.

Steve Swindon, co-founder of Love Seitan, said, “Plant Based World Expo is a great opportunity to meet and further develop relationships with other businesses. We want to bring people together and change the world for the better by showcasing what plant-based food and businesses can do.”
