In a bid to reduce its carbon footprint, Seafare Products is launching a Luxury Seafood Salad mix with minimal oil.
Based on the Harbour in Paignton, Devon, Seafare has been producing its famous range of ambient marinated seafood for over 22 years. Now, its ever popular Seafare Salad, a delicious mix of squid, octopus, cuttlefish, cockles, mussels and prawns, marinated in white wine, vinegar, herbs and sunflower oil, is about to have a boot up the backside!
With ever spiralling transport, packaging and raw material costs, Seafare has decided to help the environment. “We have looked hard at our recipes and are striving to improve on them,’ says MD, Nigel Bloxham. “We have now invented a new Luxury Seafare Salad, we are still using the finest ingredients, but we have added large king prawns and in an attempt to reduce our carbon emission, we now offering the option of packing in vacuum bags.”
He adds, “This reduces the amount of oil required in the product, resulting in a fresher tasting product that is lighter to transport, involves less packaging and has less waste.”
