New to the cheese counter is ‘Queso Arico’, a cured goat’s cheese with paprika from Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
Supreme Champion in the World Cheese Awards held in Dublin last September, Queso Arico is a hard goat’s milk cheese that is matured for around six months and regularly brushed with a mixture of Paprika and Gofio (a powdered toasted cereal found only in the Canaries) and olive oil. This is a unique process which no other cheese in the world undergoes.
Rusty-red in colour, it is an unusual and interesting-looking cheese with spicy, chocolatey notes from the paprika-coating, a nutty, salty taste and slightly dry, grainy texture; delicious and very more-ish, it’s great for nibbling with a glass of wine.
Available in two sizes, 1.1kg and 2.2kg, Queso Arico is distributed exclusively through Delicioso, the Spanish food Company.
