  • Award-winning Scottish businesses have come together to recognise home-grown talent today

A first for the country, the Scotland’s Finest event acknowledges key individuals for their independent enterprises.

Among those commended are food and drink specialists, Loch Fyne Oysters and Glengoyne Highland Single Malt.

Loch Fyne Oysters, which started 30 years ago with a roadside stall, now includes: oyster and mussel farms, a traditional smokehouse, Oyster Bar (the original forerunner to Loch Fyne Restaurants) and a farm shop.

Glengoyne Distillery will provide a tasting of its ‘Glengoyne 40 Years Old’, the oldest and most valuable Single Malt produced in its 175-year history.

“Glengoyne and Loch Fyne Oysters are successful, independent, Scottish businesses that have built strong reputations in the UK and aboard,” says Iain Weir, marketing director for Ian Macleod Distillers, brand owners of Glengoyne.

“In these challenging times, working jointly with like-minded brands who share a similar business outlook is mutually beneficial. It strengthens and reinforces key messages and reaches out to new audiences,” adds Mr Weir.

Both speciality products will also be promoted in a feast made by Tom Lewis, former contestant on the BBC show ‘Great British Menu’ and owner of Monachyle Mhor Hotel (MHOR) in Trossachs.

Mr Lewis will also be commended for his commitment to using and promoting the best produce Scotland has to offer.

Running a successful fishmongers, bakery, tearoom and livestock farm - all under the MHOR brand - Mr Lewis has become a passionate advocate of combining traditional Scottish methods with contemporary flair.

“It is a thrill and an honour to be bringing together so many of our nation’s most inspiring and talented individuals at our Scotland’s Finest event. The first of many, we hope,” says Mr Lewis.

A selection of some of Scotland’s best artists, business leaders, musicians and politicians are also expected to attend today’s celebrations.
