  • The Bank of England has issued training materials to help retailers identify genuine versions of the new £5 note, entering circulation on 13th September of this year
The New Fiver: Be Prepared

The new note will be smaller than the current £5 note and will be printed on polymer, a thin and flexible plastic, as well as having multiple security features to make them more difficult to counterfeit.

Security features include

See-through window
Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) is gold on the front and silver on the back
Foil patch changes from ‘Five’ to ‘Pounds’
Coronation crown appears 3D
Ultra-violet feature

Staff and cash-handling machines should be prepared for the launch in mid-September – training materials are available free of charge and include a range of posters and leaflets, an app and a short video.
