Thanks to its lengthy migration, the fish is lean and rich in protein, vitamins and minerals.
According the the Norwegian Seafood Council, the total sales volume of skrei to Europe is expected to be 3,000 to 5,000 tonnes for 2017, depending on the availability of the fish.
Jack-Robert Moller, UK director of the Norwegian Seafood Council said, “It has been highly encouraging to see the demand for Skrei increasing since its introduction toe the UK in 2012 – sales have tripled in this period. We have strong support from the premium retailers, not to mention the finest chefs, fishmongers and of course our distribution partners.”
