Get your free copyAs the Butternut Deli enters its second year of business, Purple Love week was the perfect opportunity to increase customer awareness and promote some fantastic products. The uniqueness of the promotion really does get customers asking questions, being involved with promotions and tastings, and most of all asking ‘why purple?’. Then you get into the whole conversation about the delicious purple kalamata olive, its true colour, taste and scrumminess!
Purple love week really did get everyone going in the Butternut Deli. Being self employed can be hard and tiring, the promotion not only inspired myself (Lucy, owner) to promote different products, increase sales and inform customers of the different products we stock, but also encouraged the customers to try something new and experiment.
Many quality suppliers supported Purple Love week by offering great promotions, this in turn allowed me to pass on the saving to the customer, therefore encouraging increased sales by tempting them with value, quality and the opportunity to try something new. This really showed through with tastings of the South Devon Chilli Farm Chilli Chocolate - the customers absolutely went mad over it and we were sure to sell some every day. I now have following of customers who can’t bare to be with out their chilli chocolate!
Suppliers were keen to offer products free of charge for tastings and this went down a treat with everyone, as people could try before they buy and often the case was buy! Because we were offering the best quality products often twinned with a special offer.
February can be a dull time for businesses, with everyone recovering from spending too much in December and the January sales, however Purple Love week really did bring a ray of sunshine to the Butternut Deli by doubling sales both weekends, weekdays also showed a considerable increase.
I am pleased to say that Purple Love week had a great impact on the sales and customers at Butternut Deli. So far although the promotion has ended, its effect has continued throughout February and March with customers returning to buy their favourite new found products.
