Michaela Fitzgerald, employing people theme leader for Business Link, which is providing the free calculator, says: “There is demand for a tool which takes into account all the specific details needed to ensure accuracy. There are other devices out there, but they do not offer this.”
She encourages employers to try the service, adding: “The service is quick and easy to use. It accommodates amounts paid to the worker, including expenses, allowances and any other additional information which needs to be taken into account.”
One business already using the calculator has positive feedback: “This tool has helped me to work out complicated pay,” says Nick Buckingham, owner of Buckingham’s Hotel, Derbyshire. “I have staff who work flexible hours, part-time or during their student holidays, so it’s important to ensure my workers are all being paid the correct amount.”
The service has been approved by HMRC and is available now via the Business Link website. Business Link also offers guidance and support to businesses both online and through local advisors. In the past 12 months, nearly a million customers have sought help from the organisation.
