Ever Considered Selling Cards?

When it comes to non-food items, retailers have to be just as discerning as they are when buying in edible products, but there’s no need to think too far out of the box to make them a sales success – as with food, handcrafted with a story works well.

We’ve spoken to Lesley Teideman, watercolour artist and founder of Tutti Frutti Designs, a Dorset-based greeting card producer, to find out how independents can benefit from selling its cards.

“Our designs have been created with independent farm and gift shops in mind, and we do not supply high street card shops. This ensures our customers receive a more exclusive product which adds to the range of artisan goods that a high quality outlet would seek to emulate.

“An independent would benefit from stocking our cards as, not only do they receive a free stand to display them on but, they get a wonderfully bright, fresh focal point in their store which will entice customers to come and investigate all that is on offer on the shop floor!

“They will also benefit from a very decent margin, with most of our customers working on a 100% mark up (plus VAT).”
