  • Two leading organic box schemes have criticised the multiples' pricing of organic products in an article in the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper pointed out that shoppers pay up to 22% more for organic produce in supermarkets than they do through an organic delivery scheme. Rob Haward, operations director at Riverford called the multiples’ business models “financially redundant” and criticised them for pushing up prices by rejecting irregular shaped vegetables.

Additionally, Isobel Davies, who runs Farmaround delivery scheme, told the Telegraph, “It’s cheaper to get a box of vegetables delivered directly to your door. Not only is the produce less expensive, but you also save on petrol.”
